GBSUP – 2022 British National Championships

The 2022 British National Championships take place at the National Watersports Centre at Holme Pierrepoint in Nottingham.

During this event, we aim to find our best paddlers in Britain across our Distance and Sprint formats. Run in partnership with British Canoeing.

To be eligible to be crowned as British National Championship Overall Champion (Male or Female), you must compete in both the Distance and Sprint events.

Distance Race

For the National Champs this year, we have a Distance Race on the River Trent planned for a 10km out and back route.

Distance Entry

The usual GBSUP Race Fleet categories for Board class and Age will apply. Note for the National Champs; there is no Challenge Tour entry available.

For the Distance race, you must be able to complete the 10km distance in under 2 hours.

Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 in the board categories overall, with the fastest Male and Female competitors being named Britsh National Championship Distance Champions.

Sprint Event

The Sprints are held on the watersports centre rowing lake and are part of the British Canoeing national regatta event. The Sprints will be a 200m distance, and you will compete in your own lane.

Sprint Entry –To enter the sprints, you must be able to paddle the 200m under the respective category times as below. You will need to predict your time during entry.

Men’s – 1min32

Female – 1min43

Prizes – will be awarded to the top 3 male and female competitors. The fastest Male and Female competitors will be crowned Britsh National Championship Sprint Champions.

National Champions

Our British National Championship Overall Champions will be the male and female paddlers with the fastest combined time for their Distance race and Sprint final.
